Hey Guys!
Here is a list of stuff I am considering for my 24ft Baja Outlaw, I have measured numerous times and there is NO way to fit 10" subs, so, I have to go with 8's, let me know what you think, ALL input is appreciated!
I am gonna run 4 sets of Polk Audio 6.5 Components, 1 set in the cabin, and 3 sets in the cockpit part number MM6501UM they are rated at 125W RMS and 250 Peak
I am gonna run one 10" sub in the cabin, the part number is MM1040DVC its a dual voice coil sub, its rated at 350W RMS and I think the peak is 700
I am gonna run four 8" subs under the back seat, the part number is MM840DVC, its a dual voice coil sub, thats rated at 180W Rms and 360W Peak.
I had planned on driving the sub in the cabin [10"] and 2 sets of components with a single five channel Polk amp part number PAA 11000.5 I had planned on using 4 channels at 2 ohms [125W X 4] to drive the 4 Component speakers and the single subwoofer channel [which is stable to 1 ohm] which would be 600W [or 300W at 2 ohms]
I was planning on driving the other 2 sets of component speakers with a single Polk Audio PA500.4 which is 125RMS X 4.
I had planned on driving the four 8" subs with a single PA1200.1 which is a mono channel amp that is rated at 1200W at 1 Ohm, or 800W at 2 ohm [continous power]
I have a 250AMP circuit breaker and 1/0 gauge wire for the power and ground wires, I have a seperate start battery, and 2 deep cycle Optima batteries for the stereo, I have also stepped up to a 140 amp alternator. The boat has a 12AMP [2 stage] battery charger that I leave plugged in when the boat is on the trailer, and when its in the water at my dock.

I wouldnt waste the time or money putting a sub in the berth of a 24outlaw. There is barely any room down there as is, & chances are anyone that needs to be down there wont want the sub going.

There is ALREADY a sub mounted down there, be easier to put a "good" one in there than it would be to try and fix/fill in the hole that would be there if I removed it.

agreed. no reason the cabin shouldn't have full frequency response. if i were down there i'd want a sub rounding out the low end.
as stated in your other thread, i like your plans.
have you drawn up a sketch of how and where you want everything going?

THANKS! Appreciate the positive input!
I have a "pretty good" idea of where the stuff will all go, I am thinking of putting the amps where the current ones are now, bolted to the bulkhead between the cockpit/cabin on "drivers" side of the boat.
The front components will be mounted on either side of the sub in the front of the V berth, once again, where the current 10" sub is mounted. I had planned on mounting 2 sets of components on the top of the gunnel [one pair at the front, and one at the back] the last set I had planned on mounting down low, where the current crappy 8" two ways are mounted now at the front of the cockpit, near the driver/passengers feet.
The four 8" subs I had planned on mounting/boxing under the back seat area [behind where your feet would be if you where sitting in the back seat] its where subs are most commonly mounted.
My only stumbling blocks are the following:
The current speakers are four 8" 2 ways, I have one pair mounted where the rear subs are going to go, this is no biggie since the cut outs should be roughly the same size. However, the front 2 ways are also 8" which is gonna have a larger cut out than a 6.5" component speaker, the boat had already got carpet in that area, so, making up an adapter and installing it and fixing the carpet would be a pain in the butt, so, I am considering installed 2 of the 4 subs in the 2 holes that currently have the 8" two ways in the front [close to driver/passenger feet] and the 2 holes that have the two 8" speakers in the back.
I am worried that having the subs that far "apart" wont sound right? What do you think?
My only other issue is, IF I have enough room to mount all 3 amps/distribution block, etc on the bulkhead, if not, I will have to come up with somewhere "creative" to mount the amps.
Let me know what you think, and THANKS! again!
Michael
