okay i need some help deciding on a hu, the pick is between

im just having a lil trouble deciding. the alpine was already installed in a car i just bought. and i thought alpine over sony was the way to go. Then i started using the alpine. it doesnt have built in crossovers (the sony does) and unless im retarded and just cant figure it out, i dont think you can use the equalizer to set each frequency. Cuz ive been trying to use the eq on alpine, and it apears that you can change the settings for each frequency. And when i go to a certain frequency and turn it up or down all the other ones go up and down to. so it seems like the only eq is bass and treble. and i might be a lil biased because all my previous hu's have been sony. Ive had the sony hu im considering to use know for about 6 months. it changes colors (the alpine dont) it has a 7 band eq (as far as i can tell the alpine dont) it has built in high pass and low pass (the alpine dont) the sony gots a remote (the alpine dont). and also the alpine just dont seem to get loud. but it might be because for the past six months the sony has been in my xploder, and its running the doors off the stock amp. as far as i know the new car (97 toyota avalon) doesnt have one. i dont know if a crappy stock amp can make a huge difference like the one im experiencing. oh and all the door speakers are stock in the exploder. and ive only had the ava for 2 days so i dunno i they stock or after market. i was expecting a huge difference in loudness just because of the simple fact that the xploder so much bigger inside than the avalon. and thus i thought the sound would be louder and more filling. but its the opposite.

srry for the long ass story but i needed to get it all out there because the second i make a decision theres work to be done. putting subs and amp in ava but the head unit dilemma is stopping me

i dunno ive always used sony hu's so this alpine is alien to me. i need some honest opinions on what i should go with. so far im leaning more towards the sony just because ive been using them for so long, like the way they sound and am very familiar with all the settings.

any help appreciated

new alpines aren't that great except for the really high level ones IMO (they've really cut back on features).

Alpine makes way better headunits then Sony does. I wouldnt buy anything from sony that has to deal with car audio

But if you really like the Sony one you have, you should go with that one then. I was just sayin in general alpine has better HU. But its all about your taste

ya i agree on the alpine usually over sony. But i did end up going with sony and hearing the difference makes me wanna set the alpine on fire and throw it away. but of course i wont, its still a nice hu but i just dont realy like the sound. i guess i got a spare alpine for a future install.
