Before I get the lecture, hear me out:

I've installed 1 car stereo before, so I'm nowhere near an expert. The idea of cutting into my parking brake wire scares the hell out of me, so I'd rather avoid that if I can. I don't have any plans to watch DVDs while driving. In fact, I don't really have plans to watch DVDs at all with this setup (so if the parking brake stuff is something I can just skip and still have all the other stereo features work, that'd be fine too).

If you are scared to install it properly then MOST people pay to have it installed.

True, but that doesn't answer my other question, which was, if you don't hook up those wires that are supposed to go to the emergency brake to anything, will the radio still work? Will it just assume the emergency brake is never on?

yes, the radio will work, but you will not be able to access many of the other functions of the radio.

x2. I bypassed my system primarily so I can play around with system settings (ie: iPersonalize) without having to be parked and go through the whole ordeal of brake pedal, parking brake, etc. It would be a good idea IMHO to allow these features to be accessible without bypassing the VIDEO lockout.

In answer to the question, check out the pac-tr7. It likely won't work with the w200, but I'm sure pac will put out a bypass module really soon. They were producing the bypass for the iva-d310 before it was widely released.

Incorrect, the PAC-TR7 will indeed work with the W200 and upcoming D100.

Here is the definitive discussion on the matter:
