Want people's opinions on all the EQ settings you use.

My excellon has a few settings. Some random bass boost setting, loud, and a subwoofer output boost. also has the normal eq settings.

Now I was wondering what kind of settings do other people use. This is for people who just use headunit and amp for their EQ.

I usually set the subwoofer output to like +7. Goes up to 15. I assume this is your generic bass boost setting.

I set the EQ with -3 bass, 0 mid, +3 treble.

I don't touch the bass boost on the amp.

So far I've found this setting to be nice. The bass doesn't distort.

I've heard some systems where people aren't bothered by slightly distorted bass, and crank the boost to get as much thump from their subs as possible. Now I will admit that this is nice for a back massage... but sometimes the distortion is so bad its not musical... it just... this loud pouding/rumbling noise.

So how many of you prefer to go with a more musical setting, and how many of you don't care what it sounds like as long as it just pounds the crap out of you.

I have an Alpine HU and I can't stand any of the EQ adjustments on it. They are so broad that they do more harm than good, IMO. I think bass boost is probably the most ridiculous thing to come along in a long time; the goal is a flat frequency response - why make a big mess ?
A real equalizer is extremely useful as it allows you to address anomalies caused by cabin loss and gain.

I do not like the preset settings as they over do it with the boost, they are too liberal with it.

i build my system to where i don't even need an eq. but since i have a fairly nice halfdin i may as well use it. i adjust for the most pure sound i can get. not too bright, not too muddy. for normal listening i have my sub just barely moving. you'd be surprized how little work the sub has to do to give the most accurate reproduction.
