i have an extra siren, so i was planning to put it into my current compustar alarm to make it louder when the alarm goes

i have a siren inside the car and one under the hood, i want to put two under the hood...

so i was thinking of cutting the wire from the siren under the hood, and connect it to both current and extra siren that i have... will that work? would that split up the noise db into half to both of the sirens, so the loudness would be the same?

You can parrallel in the third siren without adding a relay. If the new siren is the same DB of the old siren it will add 3db.

NEVER add in another siren with out a relay. the output is very limited. it is only designed to run 1 siren. not 2 or 3 or 10. just 1.

using a relay you can feed the sirens more power. they will also be louder then running both off the output.

While adding a relay will provide plenty of current and protect the alarms output.
I have to disagree with you CC. A common alarm output can support up to 3 sirens. I install at least 5 alarms a week with 2 sirens. One standard and one piezo. In the 11 years I have installed. I have never had 1 single problem with an alarms siren output.

Use a relay if you want to.
85 from alarms output
86 to ground
87 to fused source of 12v
30 to sirens

i dont know much about using a relay, but it seem straightforward...currently, i have 1 siren under the hood, and 1 piezo i think inside the car(it chirp like a bird)

as i understand..

all i have to do is, take the alarm output wire, cut the red wire and split it into two ways, one goes to the current alarm under the hood and one goes into the relay 85

- i put one wire into 86 and ground it into the chassis

- i take a wire from any 12v source with a fuse and wire it to the 87

- 1 wire goes from 30 to the new siren

also, the black wire output from the alarm split up to two ways and goes directly to both sirens, am i right?

oh by the way, i dont know if the two siren that i have right now, are they connected to the same alarm output? if yes, so that mean what i just wrote here, would be the red and black comming from the alarm source would split up into three ways...right?

one more question, should i put the new siren under the hood so i will have two, or inside the car, that will make two also? i think inside the car would be good, it will be very loud for anyone trying to do anything inside my car

It sounds like you have a good grasp of the wiring.
Put the third siren under the hood. This should give your alarm a new distinct sound.

thanks for the help

i will do that, and i think it will make a funny sound, my new siren(compustar) is like 5-6 tones and the current one is like 2-3 tones, not sure, but it will definitely sound different
