This is the most common problem here.
When you installed your radio you connected the blue power antenna wire. This wire is turning on a amplifier only with the radio. Not with the CD player.

The blue/white will turn the amp on with the radio and CD player. Connect the blue/white on the radio to the blue/white on the aftermarket harness.

This also works for installs when you have no sound. Factory amplifers need to be turned on for them to work.

That is all.....

did you even read his post ? It says to hook it to the blue/white wire on the HU not the solid blue wire.

to be fair the post didn't actually say to unhook the wire from the wrong wire and hook it to the right one...

but i didn't think the inferential leap was all that far...

is this why the sound shuts off after I start the vehicle?

I have an 02 tahoe with onstar, AC Delco deck with theftlock and a stock subwoofer and i'm trying to install a new alpine head unit but running into some problems, it seems to work fine with the key on the "on" position, but as soon as I start the vehicle the sound stops working but the deck remains on, no radio, cd, or ipod.

BTW the only thing i connected was the gm harness adapter on the alpine HU connected to the existing harness on the vehicle, and the antenna adapter, there was another red colored harness connected to the stock radio which I just pushed to the side because I had no idea what it was for.

Next time start your own post.
You need to connect the pink wire on the second harness to the blue/white from the radio.
