If you have bad a.m. or bad f.m. reception, it might be an easy fix. Many newer cars use amplified in glass antennas. You need to wire in the power antenna lead on the harness. This will activate the amplified antenna and fix your problem. This is also try for many vehicles with roof mounted antennas.

Class D amplifiers can also cause problems with A.M. reception. There is very little you can do to fix this. In order to trouble shoot the problem; disconnect power from the amplifier. If A.M. reception improves, you found the problem. If it is still poor, look into the first section on amplified antennas.

This is good info. To add, I have also experienced FM reception problems with Class T amps. I wonder if it's a switching issue or powersupply frequency issue?

Noticed that this appears to happen to me with my Nine.1 and my Eclipse CD4000. Didn't have the issue with my excellon deck. If I turn down the gain on my AMP the reception noticeably improves. I've checked all my wires. *shrug* Guess its something I've gotta live with.

The answer is class T is the stereo version of a class D amp with a TriPath citcuit.

do the FM boosters, say one available at partsexress.com or similar, work well???

my FM reception has been pretty crappy, and i'm pretty sure its not because of my sub amp,

if anyone has experience with this device, any comments would be helpful

EDIT: found the link............

I have a '94 Honda Civic with an Alpine CDA-9853 and my car gets pretty much no F.M. signal. Would this be due to my Rockford Fosgate T5001D, I wouldnt think am amp of that size would mess up all my reception.

i dont know how it is in USA, but in New Zealand many Japanese cars need to have Bandwidth Expanders installed to pick up more radio stations.

Along with boosting the reception, it boosts the interference

all birth sheets i've seen for that amp have been 1000 watts +/- 15 watts or so. not sure what you were implying by "amp of that size"

Also to add, if you have a window mounted antenae, and you tint the windows, some of the newer tint has titanium and it blocks some of the signal.

Juan last time I checked the tint goes on the inside. The antenna gets it's signal from outside the car.

It gets it from both sides, so it decreases it (if the tint was on the outside, it would probably royally mess it up).

..which, if the radio station is at your 2 through say 11 o'clock, means it has to go through the other windows to get to the antenna embedded in the windshield.

Metallized window film- lasting longer without delamination and "purpling" whilst adversely affecting RF reception for over a decade!
