Does it go in this order?

1.battery
2.anl fuse holder
3.capacitor
4.distribution block?

Or do I wire the cap after the distribution block? I will be only using a single cap.

Thanks.

Why is that? A installer at circuit city told me otherwise! \:o

In order for the cap to be effective, it needs to be placed as close as possible to the amplifier it is providing capitance for. Putting it before the fuse block adds resistance, diminishes the effectiveness of the cap, and could blow your fuse when you have a peak demand from the cap. Run your power wire from the block to the cap +, then another from your cap + to the amplifier. Ground both to the same area within 1 or 2 inches of each other.

Thanks for the help. But one more question. What do you mean by above? They will be grounded to the same ground block if thats what you mean.

You'll probably be OK using a grounding block for your amp and the cap. As a rule (in my installs) I give each component it's own connection to the chassis to eliminate the possibility of the grounding of one component to effect the ground reference voltage of the other component that would be connected at the same point. I do this by grounding them at a point of equal resistance and put them next to each other. When I do it that way if a noise issue developes then I am sure that my grounds are not causing the problem.

I have multiple amps for my subs. (1 JL audio 500/1 for my 10w7, and 1 500/1 for my 3 JLw6s)

do i than put the capacitor before the distribution block that gived the 2 amps power? or ar you saying that i should have 1 cap per amp?

One cap per amp... the more important question is why are you mixing subs like that? You should find one set and stick to it. Unless you really know what you are doing, you're going to have a lot of cancellation.

Paul,

the cap should go to the dist. block that has your sub amps. if you have more sub amps than connections on your block, use one that has.

also you do not need multiple caps for multiple amps. as long as you cap is big enough. 1 farad per 1000 watts.

i've used a 3 farad cap on 4480 watts w/out any problems.

Currently I use two caps that go to the block which then goes to three amps (2 sub amps + 1 front/rear amp). Should I put my caps in between my block and my sub amps?(1 cap for each)

Thanks
