If I have an amp that's 500x1 rms and the amp is hooked up to two ten inch subs, how many watts am I actually getting to each sub ? I'm sure it's impossible to actually get 500 watts to each sub, so is there a way to figure out the power distribution ?

Thanks !

assuming that the impedance of each sub is the same, and that the combination of those subs is the same impedance as the 500W RMS rating, each sub gets 250W RMS. if the impedance is the same, the wattage is split to each.

example:
two 4 ohm SVC subs
wired parallel for 2 ohm
amp is 500Wx1 @2 ohms

each sub gets 250W at most, for any instant. actual power output depends on volume and the actual song/source.
