Hopefully this is in the right place.

I'm looking for an amp in the $400 price range to power my two Kicker CVX 12'' 4ohm subs, I was thinking of going with this "Alpine - 1000W Class D Mono MOSFET Amplifier with Adjustable Crossover".

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1199494646259

To be honest, I'm kinda scared of "no name" brands (then again, I have no experience with car audio). I've had a few suggestions including an "Audioque 1200d".

I was also suggested this Power Acoustik A2400DB mono amp:

The local stereo shops sell Kicker amps that seem to be out of my budget at around $500-600 but this is probably what I need. I'm not looking to be the best in show but just to beat down, I was quite content with my old CVR's and Kicker 450 watt 2 channel. I'm now realizing I probably should've gone with 2 ohm subs with my budget but my plan is to buy the best I can at around this $400 price range and then pay to have my system installed at one of the local shops or at Best Buy.

Please help! I haven't had a system in almost a year and I miss it very much. The 450 watt amp is now fried because of my stupidity and the fact that it can't handle my subs in the first place doesn't help.

If you suggest a brand I haven't heard of, please explain to me why it's ok so I feel safe dropping the almost half a G on it...I'm a little worried I'll spend my money and regret it.

Thank you all very much!

Edit: It'll be safe to add that I don't know the difference between ohms or if there is a difference between dual 4 ohm and 4 ohm, I don't know which of the two I have but I know that they are 4 ohm.

try this amp

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_19024_PowerBass+ASA1500.1Dx.html

it will rock those kickers pretty good, and sonic is now authorized to sell PB, so you get a legit manufacturers warranty.

FYI you need 1500RMS @ 1 ohm or 4 ohms (a true 1500RMS @ 4 ohm will cost big bucks so i would say 1 ohm will be your target) with those subs in case you want to look on your own.

^ agree with that amp. buddy of mine has two of them and they perform great and they seem to be fairly efficient.

i run the audio que 18, but stayed awway from their amps just b/c they draw too much current for what im doin.

to determine if u have dual 4 or single 4, look at the side of the sub(s) if u have two seperate speaker connectrs.

I used to rock 2 12" CVXs with only 1000 watts (Kicker ZX1000.1), and it was definitely plenty, even though it was underpowering each speaker by about 250 watts. If you really want to go all out with these speakers, you definitly want 1500 RMS. And if yours are DVC, you are looking for 1500 @ either 1 or 4 ohms, like ROC said. You could try looking for a used amp on ebay, that might be more in your budget...
