hey Im looking for some help builing a box and choosing the right speakers and amps, i decided to build 2 as shown in this video... lemme know if thats a good idea..(your opinion)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vE7znacJAU , now im thinking 2 800 watt 12's and a 1800 - 2000, watt amp off of ebay so if anybody could help me out with my choices and walk me throug some of this online that would be great. i have got a sheap of MDF wood for startes and was wondering would it sound better with 2 of those as shown in the video or 1 sub Box

i watched the first 4 minutes of the 16 minute video.
they are using Sonotube as a sealed enclosure with plywood endcaps. those are awkward to place in a vehicle, and don't maximize the space available. Also, while Sonotube enclosures may sound good when done correctly, i believe they need fiberglass reinforcement, cardboard alone does not make for a sturdy sub enclosure (especially if it ever gets wet).
if you have MDF, use that. build a simple rectangular box, sized to the woofer specs. build the box to fit perfectly in your vehicle. i use 3/4" for sub boxes with a double thick front baffle.
don't get caught up with max wattage ratings, you only care about RMS wattage ratings.
JL Audio makes nice stuff. If you're looking for gear on a budget look at Powerbass, it will perform.
avoid Ebay unless you're buying used. you don't get a warranty, so if you have a problem, you have to buy it again.
