Help!! Sony cd player beeped and quit working???

I have the Sony CDX-GT320 Unit. I have had it in my car for a couple months and never had an issue until this morning. I started the car and heard one of the 3 beeps your hear from a sony when you turn off the unit. Then the player was off??? I hit a few buttons and it turned on but no sound and the buttons would not function. It would only show the display and clock but i could not do anything, no volume or nothing. It then self powered down and if i hit a few buttons, it would display a few seconds then power off again. i tried reset but no help. i cant even get my cd out. please help!!! thanks

sounds to me like it's not getting enough voltage.

remove it from the car. bench test it.

stuff breaks. Sony is no exception, and in my experience they are quite prone to failure. Especially in their low end units.

I have good luck with entry level Alpine and JVC.

check your fuses. there will be an interior fuse box as well as one under the hood

more likely than fuses, check your ground.

also, make sure speaker wires aren't shorting out. that can cause the unit to go into shutdown repeatedly.

remove the deck, check each connection. make sure not bare copper is visible at any connection. don't just rely on electrical tape to hold. crimp connectors or solder and heat shrink/tape.
