Another amateur question, but how the heck am I supposed to get new 16AWG speaker wire through this?:

I've read some claims that you don't need too, just use the existing wire instead, but that doesn't sound right. I'd much rather have a home run from the amp.
The little slot on the left that I stuck the Stinger wire into sure isn't the way to go. I don't see any punch out or pass through on the plug... ideas anyone? Thanks!

unplug both sides and find an area with empty pins.....drill it out enough for speaker wires to pass through.

Ah OK thanks! Hadn't imagined there would be any empty ones. Tho I suppose even if there aren't I could 'empty' the pins for the stock wiring. I'll give it a look.

yes, you could remove the factory speaker wire pins and route through there.

Thanks guys, I took a long look at it today and decided to let the pros do it. I've run the wire up to the A and B pillar bases, the shop that'll install my amp can finish it off. I couldn't get them unplugged from each other and the front door was going to be WAY more difficult in terms of physical access.
Just finished all my damping and barrier install, everything but the seats and center console is back in. Getting close to go time for the amp and sub.

ah, if you can't unplug the harnesses, then you're at an impasse. but they will come out. i find that two smaller flat tip screwdrivers work nicely. one to depress the tab and pry, and another to pry on the opposite side at the same time.

you could also make your own "boot" using grommets and heat shrink/tech flex, or some other method that is watertight.

i understand harnesses can get in the way. in order to get it done, you may need to take more apart, disconnect several harnesses.

or, you can just use the factory wire for the section in the door. intercept the speaker wire inside the car, solder to it. honestly, you won't hear a difference, and it maintains some factory protection.
