What do you guys think about this...

4 Eminence Alpha-6A 6" Midrange/Woofers (2 in front doors/2 in rear deck)
and
2 15" rockford p1's??

or maybe instead of Eminence... 4 Selenium 6W4P 6" Midrange/Woofers with 2 15" rockford p1s...

i've heard the selenium's (in a car) and they were crystal clear...but just NO BASS at all....the vocals were amazing... will the rockford be able to complement these midranges well?? seing how im used to having stock coaxials with bass coming from inside the car...not just the trunk...

P.S. **This is my first system**

Thanks,
Jay Kel (The Newbie)

I would not use pro audio driver in car audio applications. They have a higher sensitivity rating, higher impedance rating and not meant to be in harsh environment like a vehicle.

... however, they will function and probably outperform stock drivers. properly done they can sound just fine.

what are you doing for tweeters? crossovers?

the biggest issue is the T/S parameters and impedance. you'll want a separate amp to drive them if you expect volume AND clarity.

Someday your views may change on this-and you will be glad they did.

I have heard PA drivers in a vehicle and really do not like the sound overall. That is just my personal opinion. I just think that have peaky response which is sometime hard to tame.

I agree as well. I can use a hammer to drive screws into wood. It works well but isn't the right tool for the job.

Do it right the first time and only do it once.

speakers are designed for specific applications. they are designed for the environment, amplification, installation, etc. that they are marketed for.

you can do it, and it can work, but it requires more fabrication and effort.
