I have a 99 3 door Z71. I've upgraded the big 3 to 1/0 ga. I've put 200 amp Iraggi alt. in. I've got 2 Kinetik 1800's in the back. My amps are a RF T600-4, T1000-1. My volt meter( truck gauge) still jumps alot and my lights still dimm a little. I just bought the 2 kinetik's new about 3 weeks ago. I put those 2 back there because I was planning on upgrading sub amp and 2-12's. But if it can't keep up with what I have there's no need. Is there something I'm missing to do or what? I don't listen to stereo very often with truck off. I just don't understand what's going on. Driving it's fine. I just got the shop to replace grounds and power wire when they hooked up the batteries, so that should be fine. I can sit there at idle maybe 1 or 2 min and it goes way down , playing moderate volume. Turn it down a little it goes right back up.

That is because your alternator is not producing any current at idle which it is normal with any alternator. This goes to any alternator including HO alternator.

If you still have doubt about your dimming issue, I would checking your voltage with a DMM.

Do you think I need to get one of those Kinetik chargers and just make sure the extra batteries are charged properly?

Thanks for the responses. Maybe I just worry too much.
I just didn't think it would still do it that quick with extra batteries, with the small system I have.

how good are your grounds for the extra batteries? do the amps ground to the negative of one of the batteries?

without a DMM measurement, you don't know what your problem is.

How is it that some people can have their cars on at idle and play music loud without cutting off?? I have a small setup of a 08ZX750.1 kicker mono amp for my sub and a cadence exineth 125.2 for my front stage components. and my sub cuts out. I id the big 3 using 1/0ofc power cable and still cuts out. My grounds seem to be good, I have no clue what to do but i would like n answer. Dont mean to steal your thread OP... THNX

the original poster may have a bad battery in the engine compartment. i would get that tested first.

you need to know the voltage at the amp when it cuts out. that will tell you what the problem is.

some amps shut off with low voltage sooner than others.

^agreed plus, maybe the person you have seen able to play at idle has an alt with higher output capabilities than yours. also, grounds can "look" great but still perform terrible.

also, since you are running two amps you may want to consider 1/0 power/ground leads. that can help stabilize voltage a ton.

good point on grounds, and connections in general.

poor connections will increase voltage drop and cause amps to shut off early.

every connection, every wire, power and ground, between your amp(s) and the battery/alt is important. the weakest link is just that. you could run three sets of 1/0 power but if you have a 8awg ground, you have 8awg worth of current available.

you have 1/0 for the big 3 - but how did you do your connections? how are the wires secured? pics of each connection?
