first centre ported box

Hi guys, I am building my first box with a centre port rather than one at the side of the box like usual have a quick question if I may, if i need a port longer that the box is deep when i extend the port to the left and right i am assuming it would be half of the total length needed and half of the final width of the port to keep the tuning correct.

Hope the question makes sense.

Maintain the interior size (height and width) of the port; then bend or turn the port to the proper length
Example: 25 square inches of port area (5” height 5” wide) 20” inches long

Say the port goes in 8”inches then turns down another 12” inch: making the port length 20” inches
