I have a 10" Alpine Type E Sub, it will be in a small ported box. At the moment all i have for a amp is a OLD PowerHouse 2200, its says 200 watts RMS and can be Bridged on Mono, i couldnt find anything on this amp..

my question is, do i need to buy a external crossover? the only knob it has on it is GAIN. the headunit is a basic Pioneer with one set of pre outs. I know its not a great setup, but its a daily driver so i dont really care.

yes, you need an external crossover. any standard two way crossover will work. some eq's give you a low pass crossover and sub eq.

you could order FMOD's but for that price you can find a new or used external crossover. plus they are at a fixed frequency.

I really like the Alpine DRE-A200 if you can find one used.

you could also use a passive crossover. but the parts to build one are also about as expensive as a used active unit, and you don't have any adjustments without rebuilding it.
