Hello everyone, I am new to this site and I was hoping I could get alittle help from you all.
As of rite now I have a soundstream amp running a 15 kicker L7 in sealed box and a memphis amp running 4 memphis 6.5, I have already got most of my stuff for the upgrade. Just want a little input before I go any further. I will be going back with 8 memphis 6.5 all together. Just wondering would it be ok if I just bought one more amp like I have now and add it to the sytem to run the extra 4 speakers or should I get something that will run all 8.
As far as the woofer goes I am gonna keep the same amp and woofer i'm just thinking about switching boxes. Will this speaker be louder in a ported box or should I just stick with what I have?
Also any suggestions on wich battery's I should use or how I shold set this up. I have 2 deep cycle marines now, I have the 2 of them linked together I am not running a perko switch. Would I need the switch and more batteries or would I be ok with what I have.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Well you can either run 2 4 channel amps or 1 4 channel amp for 8 speakers. If you run one amp you will be running each channel at 2 ohms assuming the speakers you use are 4 ohms each. If it were me I would add another amp for the 4 new speakers. I am don't care for ported boxes and putting one in a boat is just a bad idea. You want to make sure you have a good seal on the box to keep water and moisture out.

If the memphis is stable at 2ohm and you can wire it for speaker balance if that is an issue, the single amp should work. It will get hot quicker. I find a 12v fan from the auto store helps keep things cool.
I have a pair of L7's ported, firing into the floor and love it. Open air of the boat, the more BOOM the better. Take care of the boat, dry it out and keep covered, you should be fine. Marine is simply a harsh environment, expect the toys to not last as long.
Batteries, all depend on how you use the boat and audio. You are playing roulette without keeping start battery separated from amp audio. The more and bigger you have, longer you can play at anchor. High perf AGM's will easily set you back 500+, a pair of 8D's are huge but cheaper and long play time. Dont be the guy idling to run the stereo; expensive gas, carbon monoxide, hard on alt, bad for engine. Warm alt at idle puts out 1/3 of rated power. Most important to battery life is keeping them in a charged state. Get a battery maintainer 5-10 amp is enough for basic. If you play hard and dont run far between ramp and cove, you need bigger to be ready for back to back days.
