The XTA4000D is a pretty efficient amplifier. Running at about 85% at 4-ohms. When I tested these on the bench I was consistently getting abut 4100 watts at 1-ohm, the input signal is a 4v sine wave at 100Hz. My test bench consists of a 1kW Xantrex power supply I have set to 14.4 volts. My test load is a bank of Dale 1000 watt 2-ohm resistors, run series-parallel to a final DCR of 1.1-ohm including wire. I also have 2 V-Max 3500 charge tank batteries to stabilize the power.

I never speak in terms of peak. Peak power is a marketing tool used to make people think they are getting more power than they really are.

Besides. Your theoretical gains from 4100 to 8200 watts would be about 3dB... seriously. That's it. Just like going from 100 watts to 200 watts would get you about 3dB... to get another 3dB from there you would have to double again, to 400 watts. So to get a 6dB gain from 100 watts you would have to quadruple the power.

To double the perceived volume you will need about 15dB. That means that to double the perceived loudness of a speaker you will need to go from 100 watts to 1600 watts.

This means that, in order to get LOUDER you will need to work with speaker placement and enclosure design.

Keep in mind that this is theory. I've seen 10dB gains from nothing more than increasing the power by double, and facing a sub in a different direction.

Also. You will need to FEED this amplifier. If you don't have an upgraded alternator and at least one extra battery you won't get the full benefit of this amplifier. At peak draw the 4000 will pull about 300 amps of current. Make sure you use real 1/0 power cable for power and ground, you have a GOOD chassis ground, you have done the big 3, and use large enough speaker wire. This will be more of an investment than just buying the amplifier.

yes, he is saying the amp consistently puts out 4100W RMS of true, clean, unclipped power on his test bench.

it's a great amp. buy with confidence, but buy authorized!

Be advised they are not an authorized dealer. I would wait for a little bit and buy from either Amazon or Sonic when they become authorized.
