here is my problem. one day i was listening to some DMX and all of my subs start rapidly vibrating at 1 tone. turned off my truck and tried it again and still vibrating even when i turn my volume to "zero". i was told it might be and output from my HU so i tried my cell phone pluged in with the y adapter to my amps input. it worked fine and it was on beat. now thinking its my HU i go and purchase a new one... unfortunately im having the same problem and in need of help. what would it might be? future thanks, christopher o. edit .... im looking through some thread and yes it is a popping sound like a machine gun.

did you plug in the y adapter at the amp? or at the end of the rca cable behind the radio?

i attached the y adapter at the end which plugs into the hu. so that elminates the rca cable. i read a recent post how the guy disconnected his alternator and it stopped making that vibrating popping sound and i gave that a try. that solved the problem and sounded great. my question is how can an alternator cause that problem even when the engine is off?

try a new ground for your HU. find a good chassis ground.

agreed. fix all grounds, HU and amps. also, upgrade the big 3.

your alternator may need service, the regulator may have failed.

what amp?
