I recently bought the JVC A805 deck. It is a nice deck it has the Burr-Brown digital-to-analog converter. On CD, I noticed there was a big upgrade over my previous Alpine HU from 2003, the Alpine 9827 which had great HU as well.
The reason why bought the JVC was it had lots of features and inputs that my Alpine didn't have like an ipod hook up, USB, 3.5mm jack, bluetooth....
My question is when you hook up the ipod through the USB port, does the deck process the sound using its high end processor or does the ipod still process everything and sends it to the deck. When I connect it throught he USB, I can only control the ipod with the deck, not the ipod itself.

I *think* that anytime you connect via USB you're doing so digitally, bypassing the internal DAC. I can't guarantee that's right, but it seems to be what I remember reading when I was looking into the subject a few months back.
