I've spoiled myself by owning an old sony c910. I'm in the market for another headunit, and i want something that sounds good. I jokingly searched ebay's cd player category for "burr" and was surprised to see a lot of units claim to use same processor my beloved c910 does.

do units like these really use, and sound like they're using the 24bit burr browns?

I was going to say, take a look at the Pioneer DEH P01 / P99RS

That may have some capability you are looking for...

that p99rs is sexy.

i was really impressed with the pioneer 800prs. it has one 24 bit DAC, just not sure if it's burr brown, but the sound was very impressive.

Scott has a group buy going on for the Carrozzeria DEH-P01. I just jumped in on it.

...Uses 4 24 bit DACs...

...is basically the P9 combo in one chassis...

...it bypasses the iPod converter and uses the 4 DACs instead...

This is the FIRST time I'll be using a Pioneer. I'm glad I'm getting in on this one. I'm even more excited than I was when I bought my Alpine 7909.

What's the difference in that deck and the p99 that just came out? I'm planning on getting a P99 in a couple months, specifically because it's all in one chassis.

p99 won't come with a 6channel amp.
p99 is UK version; no FM converter unit needed.
p99 (apparently) costs about $400 USD more due to the conversion rates

Thank the lord we're getting the DEH-P01 then. I don't listen to the radio anyway. Doubly so since Doiter's review on the unit says the iPod control is incredible.

Scott needs some more on the group buy for the Carrozzeria anyway, we should have a sounddomain specific link for it. I do see KHA's link to the DIYMA posting...

Scott posted the group buy information on his hybrid audio website. I'm sure if you emailed him about putting up the information here, he would do so.
