For a long time I have been monitoring my voltage on my vehicle. Within 4 month time my voltage has drop about half a volt. It was reading at about 14.48 volts 5 month ago and now it been reading 14 maximum with high RPM. Fortunately the regulator still works but I am starting to think if the problem presumes, the voltage regulator will eventually go out.

I have check the belt and it is fine. My battery seem to be fine also because it still rest at 12.8 volts.

if your battery is fully charged and you're amperage draw isn't substantial, the voltage doesn't have to be as high as it could be...

Are you taking the readings at the same temps? There can be significant differences if the alt is cold, hot, or somewhere in between. It also depends on the condition of your battery....

No different in temperature but I did notice to is that if the car was turned off for a few hours and start again it would read at 14.45. After a few minutes the voltage would start dropping and then it would settle at around 14.1 or .2.

I only had the battery for 11 month.

^with that said, get out your DMM and take readings at both your amps and at the battery. those will be far more accurate readings.

i wouldn't think the tolerance on that volt meter is better than a few tenths of a volt. it's purpose is to let you know if you drop to 12V or something, not to get high accuracy. if you want good accuracy, get a permanantly installed digital gauge from Dakota or Stinger.

Just measure both the output on the battery and through the cigarette jack and the jack is one tenth of a volt lower then at the battery.
