Background on my system:
pioneer 9800bt headunit
diamond audio hex 5-1/2 comps in the front
diamond audio d661 comps in the rear
1 jl audio 12w7 ported box
jl audio 300/4 amp pushing both sets of comps
orion 1200d pushing sub.
just bought an rd audio 3250v2 for the sub.
car is toyota celica

I just feel like I am missing something in the midrange above the sub and below the components. need some help. I have considered getting some strickly midbass speakersand placing them in the rear replacing the comps there. Any ideas??

what have you done to treat the front mid locations? have you deadened and sealed the door?

check out what team sounddomain does to get massive amounts of midbass by scrolling through their build logs.

you biggest limitation is your front 5.25" driver. replace that with a better midbass performer and ensure the location is well sealed.

putting midbass speakers in the rear will not help.

mids in the back will most assuredly pull your stage with it as well.

Follow CW and KHA's advice if you want good sound. Oh, and don't try to give any excuses that it can't be done...because if I can make my Toyota Yaris more quiet than an expensive luxury car, you can make the doors happen just like I did.

I'm stepping up from the regular 6, 6.5" mids to 8.5" mibass speakers...Thank you Scott!
