i'm using the alpine KCA-420i with my CDA-9855 with a 4th generation nano.

i'm not sure which piece, either the adapter, headunit, or ipod, limits the playback sampling and bit rates. I know that .wav is supported, just not exactly which one: 16-bit PCM or 32-bit float and a few other odd ones. i do not know what sampling rate is supported either.

want im looking for a is a list of all the supported sampling rates and bit rates. ive looked at the manuals for both the headunit and adapter and only could find CD sampling and bit rates.

Using the KCA-420i adapter you are using the D/A in the ipod to output an analog signal to your head unit. You can use any format that the ipod supports.
