My 8120 is about a year and a half old and I just noticed that my nav. isnt working. When I press the nav. button both on screen and the hard button on the unit, it just switches to a black screen. The rest of the 8120 is working perfectly, audio functions, menus and there are no problems with sound..... the only thing not working is the nav.

The nav. on the 8120 is hard drive based and I'm wondering if the drive has died? I have reset the headunit and checked all of my connections in the back and still no luck.

I'm curious if this is a known issue with Kenwood because I've googled and have seen people with the same problem, but I can not find solutions. Has anyone here run across this or possibly found the cause of this problem.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Let me guess, there is a 1yr warranty on the unit? \:p

I'd start with Kenwood first because they know their product best and might have a quick fix or an extended warranty for this specific type of error. (like the 360 RROD)

Actually Excelon units have a 2 year warranty, so I lucked out. They want me to send it off to their repair facility so looks like I'll be without a unit for a couple weeks.... gonna be tough, quiet drives. They are aware of the problem.... I'm not the first one complaining of this to them.
