It can ruin the speakers. What speakers do you have?

Sanusuki, You want to look at your specs (frequency range) to any speaker. This may help determine where (crossover settings) and how far (slope) to place these settings for an active system.
For example, tweeter X has a frequency range ability of 2 KHz through 20 KHz. The crossover point will not be at 2K (you may ruin the tweeter for extend use time); rather, 3-5 KHz may be the crossover point with a slope selection of 6, 12, 18, 30, 36 and 72db dependent of head unit or DSP capability. (For better understanding this, go to: http://bcae1.com/ On the right, scroll down to #27 for crossover and slope, and select it.)
Depending on your ear's, head unit, and speaker system, (I not entirely sure to actual Eclipse or Micro Precision 5 settings, but this can be applied in general use) start with one these above stated values, toggle back & forth to hear which setting sounds the best to your ears. Once set, move to the next speaker group and do the same procedure. This may take some time to get right.
Remember, the more the complex the system, the more time it may take to sound correctly. So be patient and good luck.

I understand that. But did you read your specification that came with the speakers? It should provide a recommended crossover point. If no manual came with the speakers, then call the manufacture or look it up on-line.
Did your speakers come with an external crossover units? If so, then you need not to worry.
