HELP!! head unit has power but wont turn on

i just bought a jvc kd-r 600 started to hook it up it has power because when i hit the eject button it lights up and says eject on the display and shows the clock for a few seconds. i tried hooking it up straight to the battery and it turned on so does that mean i have a bad accessory wire or what?

let me take a guess....did you install this into a new-ish GM, or chrysler?

If your familiar with a DMM then verify that both yellow and red wire has voltage. Also make sure you have a good ground.

i checked the ground it is good but i dont know what a DMM is.

When you tested the HU to the battery, did you connect both yellow and red to the battery positive? If so then your problem would be somewhere in your wiring harness or even the ignition switch.

ok so the HU turned on and stayed on when i touched the yellow and red wires to the pos terminal on the battery. so that means my harness or ignition switch is bad?
