Hey guys. So with my setup now i'm pleased with how my normal radio am/fm sounds. But my sirius has this god awful mid range hump. So my thoughts are to put in a decent little EQ on it's output for a few reasons. 1- Being that i listen to it most, i want it sounding best. 2- it gives me a sub out making my future sub install easier and giving me control. 3- I have a ground loop issue (I'm going to do the big 3,yes) and some EQs allow you to lift or drop the ground. 4- I would love to have a HPF lol. Now, while I'm not looking for anything huge- i would like to get as many points of adjustability as possible. And preferably in a 1/2 din unit.
Here's what i've been seeing that has features i like:
Kicker KQ9 Signal Processor: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_20603KQ9/Kicker-KQ9-Signal-Processor.html?o=p&showAll=Y&search=eq
AudioControl FOUR.1 ( not near as many freq. points, but ground isolation): http://www.crutchfield.com/p_161FOURP1/AudioControl-FOUR-1.html?o=p&showAll=Y&search=eq
I've seen a nice Clarion around too.
So, i need your guys opinions and suggestions. also- crossover or HPF, either will work. but i'd like to be able to turn it off if possible.

I have the Clarion EQS746, it has selectable LPF, aux input with separate gain control.
Sirius has excellent channels, but the sound quality is awful. i do all of my sirius listening at home and in the garage through Dish Network (no compression).
i've entertained the idea of eq'ing the sirius input only. i think you could improve it some, but it won't ever sound like a CD.
if you want one for all sources - maybe get one with a defeat switch so you can tune it for Sirius but turn it off for normal music. if it also has an aux input you don't have to run it through the HU. how is it ran through the HU now?
adding another device can make ground loops worse. fix the ground loop now. try grounding the HU to the car floor.

Well...(2000 ford taurus)...I have the factory cass. face, Mach RCU (80watts total i think, 20x4), then in the cd port i have a PEI adapter that gives me a single set of RCAs. The RCAs run from my trunk mounted RCU to the console, then to a ground loop isolator, then to the 1/8 in. output of my sirius unit. But, i hope doing the big three will make a world of difference. mainly because i use a [censored] ton of electronics...gps,radar,cell phone, sirius, and a port for my power inverter when needed. The cell and sirius being by far the WORST things causing the ground loop. I'm hoping with the eq i can pull out some of the peak frequencies i've noticed that sirius has kicked to 11, and possibly add to lacking areas. That Clarion is nice btw. I like everything about it except no HPF. The more i think about that option, the more i think it may be asking to much for something of this size. From what i've seen it's either a HPF, LPF, or XO. and just the one. (specific to 1/2 din, knob controlled units- with maybe a dip switch) My last HU was a decent pioneer with HPF,sub control-LPF, and nice eq. Think the idea of putting "bass blockers" on my speakers and getting one with a LFP would be positive? I've never used the inline units. Nor anyone else who has. Thoughts?? anyone else?
