This really has me stumped!
So, I'm upgrading my amp from an Alpine f250 to a PDX 4.150. Step 1 - remove fuse (30amp)(approx 10" from battery)from power wire. Power wire (10 g.)runs to rear of car, where a distribution block splits (all 10 g) to f250 and a Basslink. Dist Block also uses 30amp fuses after the split. So, no power, right? Battery still connected to "car", but key is not in ignition. Still at step 1...just removed main power wire fuse, drop wire , sparks fly!!!! How?!?!
First thought it was power from either of the remote wires, but neither should have any power since HU is off.
Was the amp "holding onto" some leftover juice? Doubt it.

Then where did sparks come from??

yes, your amps have small capacitors in them that take a while to discharge.

^ yup.

uglypedro (lol at the name btw) when you say sparks fly, how big are they? anything from caps discharging should be a small blue pop at the worst. if you have more than that, you need to look deeper, but either way the power is from caps in the amp.

Yes, the spark was quite small, but it really made me jump, as I expected the wire to be dead.
The internal caps makes since nothing else does.
