I installed an Audiovox Prestige APS-996A years ago. However, every few months my car alarm will go off by itself many times a day for a day or two. The remote shows hood/trunk pop. I added another ground wire to the hood pin to make sure that isn't breaking contact but it didn't work.

Any ideas?

I guess I haven't paid attention to the weather but it did it yesterday and today and it wasen't raining.

I mounted it on an exsisting bracket on a metal plate. I then made a grounding jumper and self tapped it into this metal plate and a thick part of a body rail.

Does the wire go through the firewall in a grommet? Is it clear once it's inside the cab? I've seen a couple time where a hood pin wire gets pinched by the emergency brake and only falses every once in a while...

I looked at the wire and it looks clean. I put it in split loom tubing so I don't see how it would short on anything.

Unplug it and see if it stops. It could be an adjustment issue.
