ok so i am currently running 3 memphis 12" on a kicker zx750.1 , there is a catch i recently took them out of my car and im using them on my surround sound in my room, crazy i know. To power them im using a cpu power supply unit its a coolmax V-500 in which i modded to make work. I followed the instructions that i found online and the amp turned on and my amp light is green. The problem is once i turn up the volume and the bass starts hitting hard the green light starts to go sketchy(the light never goes red) and they wont hit the deep notes only mild bass at low volume i was thinking maybe i dont have enough power, i was thinking getting a cap and incorporating that somehow tell me what you think is the problem please!

Your power supply is too small. You don't have enough current.

[no] You would need a 12v power supply that could do 75A constantly. For that money you might as well go buy a home theater receiver or a plate amp from http://www.partsexpress.com

That's the thing... you keep trying to create solutions that are really inefficient instead of going with the least expensive and easiest option. There is a reason nobody else does this... and trust me, this comes up about once a month it seems.

this question has been asked a billion times by ppl new to the game.

you have 3 options:

1) buy a huge power supply to run your car audio equipment on 110V AC power. ($$$$$$)

2) buy a sealed 12 volt battery ($$$$$) and a trickle charger. the regular cheap car batteries won't work because they give off dangerous gases.....that's a no no inside the house.

3) ditch your idea and invest in home audio gear ($$$$$$)

you gotta pay to play.

Something like this

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-750

would power those nicely... a trickle charger and a battery is still very inefficient because you can only run the subs for about half an hour then you have to wait 10hrs for the battery to recharge.
