Yeah, I know - go listen to a bunch of them. Well, I've been around to the local car audio places and they only have the Morel's, which are a bit out of my price range.

Looking for some recommendations - would really like a 3 way setup with an 8" or 9" bass driver, 3 - 4" mid and a tweeter. Again, looked at the Morel's but darn those are expensive.

Saw dynaudio 362's which will work (perfectly) and I think there's also a Focal setup.

I guess another option is to get a 4" component system and add a midbass driver to it with a 4 channel amp?

I know - weird sizes huh. It's for a Bosectomy on my wifes car which doesn't have room for speakers anywhere else but in the doors. (which are stock 9", 3" and no tweeter)

thanks folks

MB Quart makes an add on midbass - QSC 164, but it's not eight inches. Kicker makes an add on midbass speaker SSMB8 thats 8".

Morel makes a 9" 3 way component set. Sounds amazing too. They are not cheap though.

So, I'm guessing you missed the part where I said I could only find the Morel's locally and they are way out of my price range? \:D I'd love them and they fit perfectly but I don't think I can stomach $1400 just on speakers.

The bummer is that's one of the only sets that I've seen that has a 3" midrange also, which sucks cause those fit perfectly in my upper door locations. I can go 4" but that means cutting. Oh well. Maybe I'll just do 4" components and add an 8 or 9" midbass after all. Grumble......

The Morel Elate Series is available with a 9" sub, 3" mid and 1" tweeter. Beautiful sounding speakers, but they should be for $1400+

Maybe the shop will take a kidney.

Oh yeah, and the POS BOSE speakers that are stock \:\)

New Mazda Miata. Has the crappy Bose system, so it's pretty much getting gutted & started over from the head unit, amp and speakers.

You could combine this, as suggested, with a nice 4" comp set. Many companies out there make 4" comps. Diamond Audio, MB Quart, Morel, Rockford, and Zapco are a few that I know of that make 4" comp sets.

I missed that. \:o I would seriously consider saving up to get them. They are a perfect fit, and you won't be sorry when you hear them properly installed and powered in your car. Besides, $1400 is well below list on those. A lot of shops are doing layaway plans again. It makes a lot more sense than settling for something you don't really want, or putting it on credit.
