I know this is a shot in the dark, but if you have done or know someone who has done the big 3 on a 3800 series engine i would love to know where i could attach the chassis-block wire to the engine. And this is an even bigger shot in the dark... pictures wud be appreciated. :-D

thanks a bunch, your local noob.

try looking for the factory bonding jumper. may be insulated wire, may be braided cable. it may run from the transmission housing to the frame. it will be the only wire that is bolted to the engine block or tranny housing.

i found my stock block ground and its right next to the cat! so i want to ground the block near my alt. Here is where i was thinking of doing it:

here i would definately sand down the brace to bare metal:

and here, the black metal is cast iron so i think im all set:

so anybody's opinion would be great!

I'd avoid the bolt on the front because of the pulley, belt, and heat issues... the rear bolt looks much better (second pic).

i would avoid the alternator bolts altogether if you need to torque them to maintain the alternator belt stiffness. a ring terminal will prevent you from tightening the bolt enough.

i would avoid the first one for the same reasons Tony mentioned.

i dont think they are torqued because the rear one (when I looked) was actually loose! the belt isnt slipping or anything so I think im safe in terms of the torquing issue, but then again im a noob so i dont know.
