I have thought about running the components active with another amplifier. At one point, I was going to go only with the front components and leave the rear fill out. The main thing that kept me from doing this was my Eclipse XA4000, which I was going to use for the front stage. I was afraid I would blow the tweeters using the XA4000 (125x4). I guess I could gain down the tweeters, but I wasn't sure if this would work. Any suggestions?

yes, you can adjust the gain to control how much power you send to the tweeters. also, the H701 should give you some good level control from the dash, as well as crossover, eq, and T/A.

being able to time align the tweeters separate from the woofers could give you a much better sound stage.

Well, I took the plunge and took your advice...I went active today and ditched the rear fill. The only problem I seem to have is finding frequency ranges for the mids and tweeters, so I can cross them over apropriately. I've played with the high and low pass crossovers of the pxa-h701, but still have a lot of work to do. I have the high pass set at 2khz and low pass off for my tweeters. I have the high pass set at 63hz and low pass set at 2khz for my midrange. Any suggestions?

That is a beautiful install, you really did a nice job.
You might want to check the Cadence web site for the tweeter crossover point.

maybe try a higher crossover point. 2K is as low as i'd go. you can experiment with slope for each. usually, you want the crossover frequencies to leave a small gap, that is filled in by the slope. otherwise you can end up with an emphasis at the crossover point.
