Okay, I dont know much about electrical systems and stuff so help me out here.
Heres the story. I was blasting my "system" for some friends after work. I mean it was loud! My car was running (iddling). This was for around thirty minutes. My lights were dimming as usual but something different happened this time. My system cut off and then cut back on shortly after (without the car turning off). I ignored it at first, thinking it was my iphone getting an email or something (i use my iphone for audio connected to my head unit and it pauses the audio when something is recieved). I let this happen twice before I went to check it out, I wasnt getting messages! I got worried when it happened again in front of my eyes, it just cut off and back on! So i figured the battery wasnt getting charged fast enough by my stock 105A alternator, so I lowered the volume.
On the way home, my subs cut out but everything else stayed on, I think becAUSE MY AMP OVERHEATED. So i freaked out and pulled over and popped the hood and the agu fuse holder was melted solid into one piece!!! Amazingaly everything still works! The next day i was driving along listening to it at a relitively high volume and my CAR cut off and back on again!!!!! It idnt crank again but it suddenly slowed, all the lights flashed like it was being started and then it worked fine after that!
And one more thing, my amp gets insanely, frying eggs, hot! Just thought you should know.
Here is what I am running (in detail): Kenwood head unit w/ 2.5v preamp out no name 4 gauge power/ground cables with a no name agu fuse holder Crunch (maxxonics) 1000 watt mono, A/B class, 1 ohm stable amp w/ the gain adjusted to match the head unit it's putting out 500 rms each to two hifonics 4ohm DVC entry level subs that can handle 300 rms each whic are wired to 1ohm
this system pounds when it isnt melting, stalling, or dimming!

So here is my question: Will a new 150A alternator solve the dimming and stalling problem. I rely dont want to replace my charging wirings and what not. Unless its COMPLETELY necessary.
Also is there any way to cool my amp down w/o cutting holes in it and putting fans on?
And what is the best type of fuse cause I will obviously need a new fuse holder.
Thanks so much for any helpfull answers you experts will provide me. I trully apreciate you and this site!
OK im done no more reading

oh by the way, a 150 amp alternator is as high as they get for my 97 buick regal, unless you guys know of anything different. I was looking on jegs.com (which i swear by) also since im going for show looks i would prefer it to be polished or chrome. I know i drive a hard bargain.

150A alt should be more than enough.
Get a GOOD ANL fuse holder... there is a reason the no name stuff has no name... and AGU fuses are the Devil
You should also have your battery checked out and load tested. I suspect you wore on your alt quite a bit playing the system at full blast for a half hour at idle. That is probably the worst way to demo a system as the alt is struggling due to the low RPMs and the car isn't moving so the heat just builds up in the engine.
When you upgrade the alt, you should upgrade the Big 3 as well (see the sticky).
As far as the amp heat goes... you can rig a fan to blow across the heat sink but you should never drill holes in the amp. If it's getting so hot that the amp cuts off, you have a problem, otherwise it's just a hot running amp at 1ohm.

Now i understand that i SHOULD do the big 3 but is it possible to just get the alt and not worry about running wires everywhere or is there absolutely no way i cant do the upgrade? And i have a gm car so do i need a new battery so i have standard posts or is there a way to use side posts for the big 3? My battery only has side posts!

There are side post adapters that can be found at any auto parts store. They basically have the same front part as the factory post but the back part is a nut and bolt that you can add wires to with ring terminals. something like this
You must do the Big 3 when you upgrade the alternator. What's the point of having a Big Gulp when you can only drink it through a stirrer straw?

ok two more questions:
for the big three (sigh) should i do 0/1 gauge or can i get away with 4gauge, were only talking 1000 watts here its not like im running 5000watts. I may add two 2channel amps in the far future for my speakers but that will brng it up to maybe 1400 watts.
and for the anl fuse holder, which size fuse should i get for 1000 watts, 60, 80, 100, ect...

You should fuse for the wire. If you currently have 4ga wire running to the amp, you should use a fuse between 100A and 125A (depending on which is easier for you to find). You should be fine doing the Big 3 in 4ga for a 150A alt since the distances are so short.

Not if you don't have everything else up to snuff first.

x2 on everything Fox has said. you can do the big 3 and keep it neat and tidy. you don't want unprotected wires near moving parts or hot parts. find the factory jumpers and just replace them so you use the same bolts. don't use any bolts that require torque settings. if you can't use factory ground wire bolts, consult a mechanic if you are unsure which engine/tranny bolt to use.
battery negative to chassis is standard and simple. engine/tranny to chassis is the most important and usually overlooked. alt to battery positive is required for any alternator upgrade.
