im probably not one to help, but are you running an amp to the comps or just the deck? why do you want the crossover protection from coming on at higher volumes? i think if you want the crossover protection off you can just remove the crossover that comes with the comps.

if your talking about the crossover protection on your deck being off so they dont mess with the crossover that came with your c5, then i think you can turn the crossovers points on your deck to "flat" or something like that.

what problems are you having from this?

im using a jl 300-2.its almost like the front stage goes flat. then turn down volume it resets then does it again. the c5 manual says it tweeter protection circuit but it sure sounds like both go completely flat. it also does this if i set the gain to nothing. the amp is set to 95 hts when at 80 way to much bass from mids. also amp is set to hp. it also does this with the auto tune off. but just learning this deck.

i have no experience with comps, so ill let someone else help you.

but i thought you were supposed to leave the amplifier on "no pass" instead of HP, that way you get the full range of the music, then on your headunit, set your crossover to about 50-100. according to JL audio the component set plays; System Frequency Response: 48 Hz - 25 KHz (± 3 dB). so, someone should correct me if im wrong, but id have the crossover on my HU set to 50, as i believe your HU can do. and possibly lower the level of the "fronts" or where ever you have the comps hooked up, i believe you can do that also on your deck.

On my deh-p7800mp, i have front and rear levels on -23 and -24, because it seemed to distort, or possibly go flat, idk, but i like it better. you could try that. or else just wait for someone else to help you. but i would seriously start with reading the manual, and during or after, you are going to want to try messing with the deck, cuz im sure you will find out thing you can do with the deck that you had no idea you could do. pioneer is great at that. I have had my deck for about 2 years now, and i think i just recently figured out every setting.

i would use the comp speaker crossovers in both the amp and the head unit so you can have a steeper slope. just set the amp crossover lower - say around 50Hz then adjust the HU crossover higher till you get what you want. make sure your EQ is set to flat or near flat. turn off any loudness or other compensation.

if your tweeters are cutting out then you could be playing it too loud or your amp is clipping. make sure your gain is properly set based on the output level from the head unit. saying it's set to "nothing" isn't accurate - what voltage is it set to?

it is possible it is not the speakers at all though. it could be an issue in the amp. test the amp on a different pair of speakers and test the speakers on a different amp to make sure.

also, see my response in the other thread you created on the same subject.
