I have some Focal 165 KRX2 components and my tweets are currently ear level on the pillar. I am thinking these will sound better in the dash firing up at the windsheild. I had them like this before and liked the sound but a local shop recommended the Pillar but now even with the tweets at -6 they seem very much in your face. Is the dash firing up in the stock tweeter locations ok?

each set is different and each vehicle is different. i never liked tweeters firing off the windshield - too many reflections and time arrivals causes issues.
i would check your imprint settings.

well after an Imprint tune you cant really change anything. I went to a shop and the guy there was real familiar with Focal's. He said he had been doing this for 23 years and said right now they are to high and to much in your face. Told me the tweeter should accent the mid and not dominate it. Hell its at -6db lol. The guy really knew his stuff. He ran K2P's Audison amps and an Audison BitOne. He told me to get the tweets lower or possibly firing up off the windshield. Said If I cant get the sound I want then a BitOne would give me all the adjustments I need. Any thoughts? The Imprint self tune sounds like crap. Way to harsh and in your face. I may have to try it again.

The closer you put the microphone to the cloth interior parts of the car, the louder the Imptrint will set your tweeters. Try setting the microphone father away from the seats and door panels when you run it next time. Cheat a little and error towards the tweeters a little to, you will get a noticable difference in your results. I played with my Imprint for the last 3 months and finally gave up and purchased a used Rockford Fosgate 360.2 processor. The sound quality after only setting the crossovers and time alignment was far superior than anything I ever achived with the Imprint. I've been tuning on the RF 360.2 for about 3 days now and my system as a whole has just come alive. If your done with the Imprint, sell it on E-bay and start asking questions about processors, you will not be disappointed.

Thats the route I am going although I was told to try the Audison Bit One. I dont want to have to purchase a palm to use the 3sixty.2. I can pickup the Audison Bit One locally for 700. Its tempting.

I use a lap top running XP to communicate w/ the RF360 via a USB bluetooth dongle, so far no communication problems. I bid $225 on the 360 through e-bay on a whim one night after being frustrated with the Imprint, and low and behold it was mine in the morning. It has been worth every penny!!!!!!!!!!
I will be looking forward to reading your review of the Audison after you get it up and running!
