Thinking about installing some Infinity Kappa in my system.
Rear Deck Infinity Kappa 692.9i and Infinity Kappa 62.9i Front Door.
I wanted to get peoples opinions on these speakers and if there is anything better for the money?

you buying online or in an authorized shop? how much are you willing to spend?
Kappa's are bright and can get loud. they are too bright for my tastes - all depends on what you expect.

Most likely buying online. The kappa's cost $130-180 on crutchfield, so somewhere in that price range.
What do you mean by bright?

Don't do it. Kappas have tweeters that are way too harsh, bright, over bearing. Another good reason to go to a shop and listen to speakers and ask questions. No internet shop can give you customer service like that.

Murph what speakers would you recommend instead of the kappas? I'm working the the price range of about 200 per pair of speakers but can go up a little if it will make a difference.
From reading the boards it sounds like i should probably get component's anyway. I'm now kind of leaning towards some Boston Acoustics, like the SX50 or some Alpines.

Perhaps,
Alpine SPS-600C or Alpine SPS-60 in the front.
And the Alpine SPR-69C on the rear deck.

Really? So Kappa's are trash but the Reference line is good! Haha how does that make sense?
Is there another brand, other then Alpine and Infinity you would recommend for this general price range? Boston Acoustics SX50 seem like they could be nice but they are obviously more expensive then the Alipne's and the Infinity's.

I totally agree that Infinity Reference sounds much better than Kappa to me. The difference is in the materials used IMO.
Alpine Type-R sounds much better than Type-S.
The Boston speakers i have heard i thought were good for the money, i haven't heard their newest stuff for several months now and my memory of them is fading.

I was looking at the type R's but Crutchfield says they don't fit in my front door (2005 Altima) :| that's why I just had the Type R 6x9's in the back.
Is it still generally excepted to go with 6x9's in the rear deck since they are a little bigger or is it better to get a smaller component set like the Alpine SPR-13S
Base wise, wouldn't 6x9 be more capable of reproducing mid / low base better?
So the Alpine quality meter goes S, R, X?
Thanks for all the comments and help so far. I appreciate it :]

most aftermarket front door speakers need a baffle to fit- due to depth. with a proper baffle you should be able to make them fit, but Crutchfield is usually accurate.
Start by removing your factory speakers (or just one door) and measure your depth with the window down.

I was able to get out and listen to some Alpine Type S' (no store around here has Type R) and some of the Boston SX's and I was kind of indifferent. I don't know if that was because I was standing in a store or what but I'm sure all speakers sound different once you got em in your car.
I've read that the 6x9 Boston's have poor mid / low base, which is a negative for me. Other then that I am kind of on the fence.
Can someone help push me to one side or the other, going Alpine Type S/R or Boston or throw in a wild card!

I am just getting into the car audio scene so take what I say with a grain of salt please. After listening to the alpines quite a bit in the store, the type r's sound WAY better IMHO. I had a pair of infinity reference in my pickup a while back and they weren't bad considering I got them for 5 bucks at a wrecking yard but I feel the type r's are far better. That's what I have decided to put in my car. I like others better (Focal K2P are my favorite) but in that price range type r's sound the best to MY ear. Just my $0.02
