im installed an Viper 5900sst (one mile range) on my 08 Scion xD this week and i just realized there is no way in hell i am going to get close to one mile range... so, where is the best place to mount the antenna to get the best reception... is the antenna waterproof? could i mount it in the wiper cowl outside the car?

the issue with inside the car is all of my windows are 5% on top of 30% tint and my windshield is 30% tint over the whole thing and 5% tint at the top...

i also have 200^ft of sound deadener (dont know if that blocks reception also or not.)

thanks, Snooby.

Don't pool up the slack. Run the antenna cable as long as possible. The center of the windshield is the best location. If you want better range, turn off code hopping. None of the things you listed will kill range.

great thanks Murph. got it all hooked up and working. so nice to have an alarm again.

used 3 LEDs, one in the top of each Apillar and 1 in my overhead console. cant see any of the LEDs unless at an offset angle, its perfect.

dont want to make another thread so ill put it in here.

i have to 513Ts inside the car on each side of the drivers foot well.
and the main siren we took down to a 2 tone siren so it chirps on 4 and LOUD. its a mechanical sound, really annoying lol.

i want to add a second random siren on the outside, my friend has a 'oooga horn' i have a police siren on the car, but i dont want to use those tones, but is there anyway i could use the 100watt speaker it uses? just have it play normal alarm sounds through that?

Not unless you have the amp board from another siren.

The siren has it's own amplifier. You could run it into another amplifier hi level. It's a lot of work for what you are trying to do.
If you want your car to stand out.
2 514N sires, One 6 tone and one set to a single tone.
Add horn honk and you are done. If you need more, get a bull horn.
