i want to spend around $170 on a speaker component system for up front. i have two 12s in the trunk and the bass is overpowering the mids and highs. just want a system thats going to sound clean and give clear mids and highs. i will add an amp later on to power them (a couple months). i have an alpine 9884 deck. i've heard good things about Alpine system x systems. Alpine also, was thinking something like this Boston accoustics JL

i didn't like mine with only 50W RMS from Xtant amps. i liked them with 200W RMS from those same amps bridged - yes, that was twice the recommended power levels. lesson i learned - if you use the passive crossovers they need power. when given 50W active they were better but still wanted more power. i'm guessing that 100W active would have been as good or better than 200W passive.
