Hello,
I searched for this topic and came up empty-handed, so please forgive me if this topic has already been adressed elsewhere on this forum.
Does anyone have a "typical" RTA curve for sound quality settings? I'm not referring to the equalizer or crossover settings - that's unique to every install. Rather, I'm looking for the RTA curve of someone's stereo playing pink noise using their sound quality settings. Can anyone help?

so you want the resulting RTA curve after tuning?

i am a few months away from getting you that info from my own system. there are several others on here that would have it, the question is if they want to share since they compete. i'll point them to this thread.

they will use an RTA to identify problem frequencies, resonance, etc. but they use their ears since that's what judges use. however, if you don't have a trained ear you would like to supplement with an RTA. i would also like this information.

I would be happy to post my from all of my cars, but it wouldn't do you ANY good. I have heard cars that sound awesome with the weirdest looking RTA curves ever. But it works in that car, but would never work in another car.

Give me a few days and I'll take a pic of the baseline curve I used before making changes for tonality.

The key though is using an RTA to get a smooth slope from the bass down to the treble and making the left and right sides match exactly.

Then go back and make EQ changes to both sides for tonality. What I will post is what I start with before making tonality changes.

Thanks for the feedback. I am being realistic about this and not relying solely on any RTA curve to dictate supreme sound quality.
I am, however, very inexperienced in tuning and am searching for a tool that will get me closer to my goal. It is for this reason that I have approached the SoundDomain collective for assistance, and I'm grateful for everyone's input so far.
Thanks.

KHA, look at the curves on that 701. If they haven't been lost, preset 1 was what I used at finals. Preset 2-4 was settings I was toying with, mainly with xover and t/a.

gogetter, Foam nailed what you need to do. First get both sides playing equally, then adjust them together to fix any tonal issues. There also shouldn't be any extreme variances from one frequency to the next; it should be a smooth slope.

unfortunately EQ curves for your system tell me nothing about mine. i did review them though, and it took a while to get everything back to zero and save that as a default. i was looking for a RESET ro DEFAULT button or something but didn't find one.
