Any ideas guys? Is there much difference between the ovals and rounds? I got all the bass i need, looking more for the mids and highs, so i was thinking some infinity or mtx 6.5's but would the 6x8's sound better and louder on not much difference? Any oppinions would be excellent. Btw i have 2 10in kicker cvr subs for the bass.

boston makes a pro set of 6x8 components. it's a separate crossover and tweeter, but the midbass is a 6x8. That's what you ideally want.

ah, i forgot those. ok, so there are some in the $400 range that are good. a elliptical midbass can sound just as good as a round midbass. upper midrange may suffer with some speakers.

yeah crutchfield has some JL ones on there.
the only thing i didn't get was those said they were 5x7, but could fit a 6x8. the ones i helped my friend install in his F150 was a full 6x8 mid.

jl audio has the ZR($600), c5($500), and soon will have a c3($300) which are all 5x7/6x8 mid and a tweeter, i think on certain ones you can actually place the tweeter on a removal cap on the mid or have it mounted. all come with a crossover.
they also have a c2 which is 5x7 that i think has a tweeter that may be removable, but no crossover.
i myself am waiting for the c3 release in mid july.

I used a set of http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1086820CS/Infinity-Reference-6820cs.html?tp=92 in my taurus. While not the same caliber as whats been mentioned... i am very happy with these, that is running off the factory mach amp. But def find something that is truly a 6x8. don't let the 5x7/6x8 trickery get you...those bastards
