Tell you what, you actually give us some useful information such as the actual SIZE of the sub you plan on running you may get some answers. Hell if your feeling really happy you can go ahead and tell us what you want it to sound like with the type of music you listen to aswell. I assume you don't have any space restrictions either right? I mean c'mon thats so last year

FYI it's a sealed box....wtf?

I thought I said the size of the sub. Typed the topic up to fast. But anyways its a 10 inch fi q series subwoofer. I want to make it sound good, not no spl $hit anyone can do that with a sub. The space just look at this way I can kill you you and you and put all of your dead bodies in the trunk.

sealed is easy. you shouldn't even have to ask for tips on the size of the enclosure. Fi will give you the proper volume to build the box. The shape is up to your and your requirements

if you have the specs then there is plenty of places to design a box.

how do you tune a box to 28-33hz??
Enclosures:
Q 10 – We recommend using a sealed box in the neighborhood of .2-.6 cubic feet of volume (after all displacements for those wondering).

Ported box we recommend using .5-1.2 cubic feet from 28-33Hz tuning with ~15 square inches of vent.

port length determines what the box is tuned to. There's a calculus formula that figures that, or you can find a free calculator. Subwoofer Tool has one that'd work great for you.

So your current sealed box isn't providing satisfactory bass response on the "high bass notes". Using a ported enclosure tuned to those sepcific frequencies will yield great results, but only for that narrow spectrum. In other words you'll dominate the highs but sacrafice the lows \:\(

First of all, you use rudimentary geometry and algebra to figure out how to build a ported box. It's not hard....most of the time

Second, A box tuned to 28-33hz will NOT provide the results your looking for. 28-33Hz is low, especially for a 10" driver. I don't know what type of music you listen to but I would try something along the lines of the high 30's low 40's.

Hope that helped

I say tune it to 35hz. That's supposed to give a good mix of both...that's what I heard from a member on this site.

I had a prefab box, I don't know what it was tuned to but I'm assuming pretty high. The high bass notes hit very hard but the low notes sounded like crap.

Honestly it sounds like you need to stick with a sealed enclosure. Play with different sizes and add some polyfill/ acoustic FG matt to tweak the sound to your desire

If that doesn't work then.....go ported

Honsetly I couldn't tell you, I've never ran one before. A friend of mine bought one and made a BADASS custom ported box for it and it still lacked decent output with ~1200 watts.

If you want loud get a different woofer

dont get me wrong the speaker is built like a tank. The sound that i get out of it is so clear but the highs are rough and its just a currect hog... its killing my battery and alternator and making me drive around with a strobe show... its crazy.

ported for what?

your cabin gain is different from my accord, or flattop's dakota. the same box will sound different in all three. you just want a ported box, best buy can hook you up.
