I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the factory radio from a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer. It is the 6 disc in-dash changer. It is not like the old models with the holes on the side that use the clips to remove it. I know that the dash trim plate has to come off but don't want to crack it. Any help would be appreciated.

I think the trim piece just pull off, it's held on with those clip things. There might be a couple screw also, it's been awhile. Then some have like four 7mm that hold it in, and I've even seen some that just have tabs that you pinch in by hand. Just get the trim ring off and you'll see exacaly how the radio come out. The trim ring is pretty tough but make sure you pull staight out on the clips and work on one at a time, I have broke a few off before. Good Luck

Thanks. I am gonna try it tomorrow. I figured the radio is bolted in I just don't want to break the trim piece. Thanks again for your advice.
