hey guys, i have a 2004 jeep grand cherokee and it came with navigation and a nice cd player. Its a jeep manufactured navigation and cd setup. The reason i say this is because i was wondering if theres any way for me to hook my ipod up to this player and make it work. Is there a special cable or could a car audio shop do it or am i gonna have to get a completely different in dash headunit. I really like the headunit that came with the jeep because of the way its setup and it has navigation etc. thats why i was wondering if i could keep it and still hook up my ipod. So is it possible?

Thanks

Yes it is possible.

Assuming you do not have an Aux input, you have two routes you can use.

The first is buying a little FM transmitter for your IPOD. That will transmit the music from your ipod over a given frequency. You tune your radio to that requency and you listen to that music. Generally however, this option really sucks. I don't recommend it.

The second option is similar but instead of broadcasting the frequency over the air, you get a little device that inserts between your antena and factory head unit. You still tune your radio to a specific frequency but now the signal is being injected directly into the head unit antena input. This works MUCH better.

Any car stereo place can do this for you easy.

Where do i get this device? And yea i want the quality to be good coming from the ipod. Ive i had an itrip before and i know those are shitty. Does the device your talking about give just as good of quality as a regular cd would?

talk to a local dealer, they will sell you one. They will also answer questions about quality.

I doubt it would be just as good as a CD, since the iPod is not as good as a CD (compressed MP3 vs uncompressed). I am told it sounds pretty good, TONS better than a device like an I Trip.

The sound quality of any FM modulator is horrible. Even the ones that plug into the antenna are just barely tolerable. They are also subject to interference from anything. There are interfaces for the factory Jeep navigation units that will allow you to plug your ipod in and play it directly throught the factory head unit. I don't recall the model, but Crutchfield likely carries them. Any competent car audio shop should have it available and be able to install it for you.

1st off dont call me junior

I am just wondering why Murph posted: "Fully compatible with most Chrysler radios that have a "Disc ∧" or "Mode" button"

Is it because of what it says?
