Hey guys. I have a DEI Python 990 I'm planning on installing in the near future. The vehicle is a 2003 Toyota 4Runner Limited, 4x4, V8. Along with the 990, I have and will also be installing a 530T window module, 529T window module (sunroof/back window), 520T backup battery, 515R backup battery siren, and 506T glass break sensor.

My question is about using the glass break sensor with piezos. I have always been a big fan of adding piezos in my past vehicles, but never had a glass break sensor wired in due to conflicts between the two components. Now, I am wondering if I wire the piezos on a delay (say 5-10 seconds), will I still have the conflict? From what I understand, the conflict comes from when the warn-away sounds, the piezos cause the GBS to sense a problem and sounds a full alarm. But with the piezos wired on a delay, they won't sound unless the alarm has been fully triggered, so they won't cause falsies. Has anyone tried this? Am I wrong in my thinking?

Feel free to comment...

Use the horn output to delay the piezo until full trigger and the problem is solved.

Thanks for the reply Murph, but if I use the horn trigger to delay the piezos, will it not then make the piezos cycle on & off with the horn output as well at full alarm?

The delay I was thinking about using would just be a simple circuit with a 555 timer chip. By adjusting the resistor values, I can adjust the delay time. I was planning on controlling a relay with it that the power to the piezos would be wired through.

Again, feel free to let me know if I'm over-thinking this one. If there's an easier way to accomplish the same result, I'm all for it.

The horn output is only used with full alarm and you can program it to a constant signal instead of a pulsed output. Now you can't do horn and piezo at the same time.

The 528T can be used to delay the signal but it's extra work.

Excellent - Thanks! That's what I think I'll do then with the 990's horn output. I had originally planned to use it for the horn, however, the OEM anti-theft is still 100% operational (arms & disarms with the 990), which I forgot pulses the horn, so I can use the 990's horn output for the delay. Sweet! Thanks again!

Would this also work on a Viper 5900 alarm? piezos to horn output?

So then I would just program it for a constant signal then?

I started installing my 5900 back in the fall but it got to cold outside to finish since I dont have a garage. I had the piezos wired up already but I think I'll change them so I can still add my glass sensor.
