Eventually, the build will go into Show Off section. For now, I want this post to allow for any criticism, ideas, experience, etc. for a center console sub enclosure. I haven't done one before, but i've wanted to for years. Now I have the opportunity to do this for my brother in-law. So please, give me your expertise.
We have an Ultra 10.

This is my console/enclosure plan:

This plan has been pencil sketches for the past month. I have tweaked it enough to do it to scale in CAD (2009 Autodesk MEP). I did build a 3D version but it's just a waste of time IMO. So the drawing you see is to exact scale.
I will build the sub enclosure from 3/4" MDF, with 1" furring strips at all corners and 1 1/2" dowel rods for internal bracing. Further, I will coat the whole interior with resin to ensure a good, airtight enclosure. The enclosure will be irregular to prevent standing waves. The front baffle will have two layers of 3/4" MDF with a recessed mount so the console skin is flat in appearance.
I am currently in the early design stage. I need to run some software simulations to nail down the exact interior volume and shape, but the draft is close. Right now, I have .700 ft^3 of gross internal volume. The sub, dowels, and corner braces take up .106 ft^3 leaving .594 ft^3 net internal volume. The Ultra 10 can go as low as .4 ft^3. I might try to get it up to .70 ft^3.
The maximum O.D. width is 13" for the console. This gives a maximum O.D. width of the sub enclosure as 12" and a gross internal dimension of 10.5". A 1/8" thin layer of foam will be between the sub enclosure sides and console skin. 1/2" foam on the front of the enclosure between the storage area.
The sub enclosure will be an independent unit - separate from the console and console skin. 1/2" MDF will be used for the console, and it will be separate from the sub enclosure - with foam between the enclosures. They will mount to the vehicle separately. I am trying to minimize vibration transferring to the console. Also, this enhances security, the console skin will need to be removed in order to remove the sub.
The enclosure will be rear-firing with the sub face behind the front seats. I did consider a down-firing configuration, and I do have the space for one, but I will lose storage space.
The storage compartment is deep, almost too deep. We may put a false floor in it.
It will be covered with vehicle matching carpet on the sides, and vehicle matching leather on the arm rest. The top of the cup holder area will probably be a combination of fiberglass and bondo - possibly with a burlwood covering to match the vehicle.

back to the point. JL Audio stealthbox basically. but custom built! going to be difficult. looks like you have a good start.
Good Luck!

yea, it was as hard as changing it in my profile - crazy stuff.
difficult is a relative statement. with proper design on the front end, the rest is just making straight cuts and simple math. i have a couple products to finish first, but we are getting close to construction.
i'll start by removing the factory console (that belongs in a Camry, not a Tundra) and making a cardboard mock-up so we can verify height, width, and overall layout.

I am going to do my build log here if no one has objection. I will move this thread to Sound Domain Show Off once we have substantial completion.
We removed the factory center console to take some final measurements. I will build an outside dimension representation out of card board in a few weeks.
side view of the interior

oddly enough, we won't even touch the storage under the seat

overall length will extend to 38-40"

this will leave a bit of room between the back seat.

overall width will be less than 14"

the factory arm rests will be removed to allow for a full 13" of width.

overall height will be roughly 17"

we will also reuse the factory console cup holder

the Xtant 3300x will be perfect behind the drivers seat

good height too

yesterday was -27 degrees. today was 30 degrees. it felt warm.
pop the hood and OMG - look at all that space.

passenger side won't have anything - but there is a convenient grommet on the top left.

we'll be upgrading the battery, obviously. there is also a convenient grommet on the top right.

we won't be limited for space in here!

The system breakdown is still in development.
Head Unit: Alpine IVA-W200 (most likely, or Eclipse 8454) Processor: Undecided, maybe a H701 brain. Amplifier: Xtant 3300x (for now) Speakers: Undecided - 6.5" components for sure Subwoofer: Ultra 10 Wiring: Streetwires Alarm: Undecided, will certainly be added.
We will need more power, eventually the 3300x will be replaced with maybe a 604x and 1001dx - optimally. Rockford Fosgate is also in the running. Maybe one Alpine MRV-F545. We want at least 450W to the Ultra 10 at 4 ohms. If we can do it with one amp, great. If we need two we can locate it behind the passenger seat. I may run the Ultra 10 from a two bridged channels.

nice, thanks for the pics. that is not a jack as it's totally relevant to the thread. we have a similar idea of how i want to reuse the factory cup holder. did you let that factory cup holder reuse clips so it can pop out? how was the performance with that arrangement - sub facing back like that? i've only heard this done once, so i'm taking a bit of a chance.
i want to get .7 cu. ft. internal volume, but not much more. that sub will play in as little as .4 cu. ft. also, i want it sealed, not ported. any larger than .8 and i'd start getting out of the optimal Q range. We want primarily SQ out of it.
We want to retain plenty of center console storage, as well as as close to a factory console look as possible. we may use vinyl for the sides and leather for the arm rest - that will be decided after it's all built.
Please, keep any input, comments, pictures, etc. coming.

The drink holder was a total after thought as he has one in the dash already...but a little cut here and there and poof...drink holder.I was able to get my 1.25 cu..with a tuning in the mid 30's..It produced a very smooth tight sound..great for all the reggae he listens to.

have you considered adding enclosure volume under the console storage area? I remember you said that it was a little too deep, you can take a few inches of that to add another .2ft^3 to the enclosure. Do you really need all those dowels? Wouldn't a single dowel do fine?
Try something like this, then decide later whether or not to remove the dowels

or this one for even more enclosure volume, thus avoiding the step down storage area completely.

it's for anything you don't want people to find.
yea, i had those same ideas as well to get more internal volume. i have been playing around in CAD, much like you did in paint
and our plans for the front have changed a bit too. i need to update my plans. we want to build the box this week to start testing, make sure we like it.

don't get me wrong, i value your advice. i use paint all the time, it's so damn easy to import/export.
This post is here so i can prevent a "whoops". All input is greatly appreciated... and if you tell me not to do something, i probably won't.
the dowels and furring strips are there to increase rigidity and help with wave break-up.
where can i get acoustic fiberglass? i would like it 1-2" thick on the sides and rear faces.
since it's sealed i won't coat it in resin. if it was ported i would. i agree the box should "breathe" though the wood to ensure equalized pressure (did i get that right?).
FYI - this is pushing my limits as a fabricator. i am better with electricity then wood. but i'm not afraid of a challenge, and i know it can be done. i'm also picky about cosmetics. this weekend will warm up to 40 degrees - perfect for building this box, the amp mounts, running wire, installing speakers, etc.
