I have a 2007 Audi A3. Have Audi Concert II (i think) radio with shark fin antenna attached to the roof.
I want to wire the shark fin antenna to my new Starmate 5. Any idea where the wire would be? Do I need a connector to attach it to the Starmate 5?
Also, any idea if the Audi Concert II has an input jack somewhere on the back of it so I don't have to use the FM transmitter? If not do the FM transmitters work OK? If I have to go this route where would the FM antenna be (not sure if it is in the windshield or rear window).
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am the true definition of a NOOB!

Easy question first. If the Audi Concert II does not have an auxiliary jack(which it probably doesn't) you want to buy a Sirius FM Direct adapter and the corresponding antenna adapters for your radio. The FM direct adapter goes inline of your antenna and only broadcasts your sat rad on the selected frequency unlike the sure connect that you have to run through your car to the antenna and is easily overpowered by strong FM stations. Also the FM direct adapter has the best sound quality you can get without getting a new source unit that is sat ready.
That shark fin probably is your FM antenna. Look on your back window and if there are no vertical lines then you do not have a glass antenna. As for the sat antenna you are probably going to have to use the one that Starmate 5 came with. It's magnetic, stick it to you're roof, tuck the wire under weather striping, into the cabin and hide the wire all the way to wherever you install the radio. Same with the FM Direct connection. Unplug the antenna from the back of your radio, plug it into the FM Direct adapter then plug the FM Direct adapter into the radio. The audio in cable is then ran through the dashboard to wherever the Starmate 5 is.

Post Script
The reason that older XM and Sirius units worked well without being hard wired, or having a wireless transmitter that has to be ran by wire and taped to the side of the FM antenna is because the wireless transmitters that were used were strong enough to give you cancer. People at the FCC said "NO THIS IS TOO CONVENIENT!" or they got a lot of complaints from people trying to listen to FM and their stations being over powered by XM when someone with a S50 or a old myfi drove by them on the expressway. Due to this they changed the restrictions on wireless transmission and turned down the juice on all FM transmitters. The goofy wire that comes with your radio will work, but poorly. If you drive out of town and a new radio station pops up on the station your sat is on it usually will overpower the sat. With the FM Direct connection whatever station you set it to will be CUT OFF COMPLETELY when the sat radio is powered on, and when you shut it off the FM reconnects. In the hundreds of sat radios I've installed everyone has been happy with the direct connect and everyone that used the "sure connect" came back and bought the direct connect.
