I'm currently running a Kicker 2 channel amp, a pair of Bazooka 8" 2-ways, a pair of 6x9's and a pair of 6.5's. it sounds good in the driveway and garage, but when I get on the lake it drowns out...
would I be better off adding another pair or two pair of 8" 2-ways in place of the 6x9's, and a 4 channel amp?

or

starting over from scratch with subs, mids and highs

I just want more sound and I'm not sure how to get it there.

thx

drowns out? not sure what that means. drowned out by the motor?

speaker locations? that is the most important part. either post pics of the installation, or draw up a diagram (pics preferred). let's start there before you spend more money.

also, you have too many different types of speakers on just two channels. each different speaker should have it's own amp channel so you can set crossovers and levels correctly.

so start with pics and we will suggest locations.

finally, what is powering the system in the garage and car? how do you keep your batteries charged on the water? keep a volt meter visible at all times. boat alternators are small and can only keep up for so long. eventually the voltage drops and the output greatly suffers.

i installed solar panels and a battery charger for them on my dad's boat. it kept the battery fully charged during his work hours so he could crank the system all night long. worked out great.

meaning when you're on the water/wide-open area, its not loud enough, whereas when its parked in the garage and there is a roof over my head, its much louder, obviuosly b/c I'm in a small space. I'm looking for more volume on the water.

I don't have pics at the moment. my speaker location are under the bench seat in the rear of the boat, under the front seats in the bow and in the gunwells in the middle of the boat. (this is a 20ft bowrider). part of the problem is that the speakers are mounted low in the boat, but I have no other option.

all of my speakers are 2-way speakers. and I only have 4 speakers (2 channels) running off of the amp. the 6.5" are running directly off of the head unit, they need more power, and thats why I'm considering a 4-channel amp or adding another 2
channel amp.

I have dual batteries in the boat, a seperate battery for the stereo, so that I never get stranded.

I don't have a stereo system in my garage or my truck (other than factory equipment)...I must have confused you

you pretty much answered your question. on the water, there is nothing for the sound waves to reflect back to you, as in the garage or in neigborhood. the only cure it to throw more amps & speakers at it.
